COMPETITION RULES & REGULATIONS

· Anglers must purchase their tickets before 10am, Sat 1st of November 2025.
· Categories are 1 st – 5 th in snapper, kahawai & trevally, average weight (1 prize of a $300 voucher) &
lucky draws. There will be prizes for best dressed for the Halloween disco (free entry to all children).
· To calculate average weight, the weights of all fish weighed will be tallied and averaged. The closest
to this will be the winner. If more than one fish is equally close to the calculated average weight, the
first fish weighed is the winner.
· In the event of any fish in the same category being the same winning weight, the first fish weighed is
the winner.
· Prize winners will be notified if not present.
· One prize per angler per category.
· All prizes not won will be lucky draws. Anglers MUST be present at prize-giving to win a lucky draw.

· All boats participating must be capable of going to sea and should meet Coastguard Safety
Standard.  All skippers are advised to notify Far North Radio when they leave port if, they are staying
away & when they return to port. Far North Radio and Sea Rescue have regular skeds and weather
forecasts at the following times. VHF Channel 60, 61 and 83: 7.40 am/ 1.30pm/ 5.30pm/ 7.30pm
· All fish must be of legal size as determined by the rules set by the Ministry for Primary Industries
(formerly MAF).
· Fishing may commence from 3pm Friday 31 st October 2025
· Anglers can fish from land and/ or by boat.
· Fishing area is Herekino Harbour to Berghan Point.
· Each angler can weigh in a total of 2 fish per species.
· No longlines, nets, contikis, torpedos or spearguns.

· Please note: there is NO STOP FISHING TIME. It is the responsibility of all anglers to get their catch
to the weigh station within the stipulated times.
· Weigh in time 3-4pm Saturday 1st November at Houhora Fishing Club Wharf
· Tickets required when weighing fish
· Prizegiving at 5.00pm.
· Halloween Disco 6-7pm – free entry to all children (prizes for best dressed).
· All children must be accompanied by and in the care of an adult at all times.

· Breaches of any competition rule must be reported immediately to the competition organiser.
· All decisions made by the organiser shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
· Purchasing your ticket constitutes acceptance of the Rules and Regulations covering this
competition and all anglers agree to abide by the contest organisers decisions.
· The contest organisers reserve the right to change or amend the competition at any stage, subject to
any advice received, or in the interest of public safety, any changes will be announced on the club
